Saving Lives Foundation Update

On May 10, 2021, Saving Lives Foundation lost a dear friend and co-founder. Matt Cohen, who was one of the original founders of the foundation passed away from complications related to his battle with cancer. Matt was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016 and had battled the disease since. Matt will be sorely missed.

In June 2025 Saving Lives Foundation was proud to be part of the Hatboro-Horsham High School Senior Awards night. We awarded 2 scholarships to seniors whose family has been directly impacted by the financial burdens of cancer treatment. This was the 11th year that the Joan Armstrong Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of Co-Founder Lori Ferris’ mother, was presented and including this year’s recipients Saving Lives Foundation has committed $92,000 in scholarships.

13th Annual Saving Lives Foundation Golf Outing

The 13th Annual Saving Lives Foundation Golf outing was held June 16, 2025. We had another great turnout with a fun day of golf, a great lunch and dinner, and great raffle and auction items. We had 4 golfers who won closest to the pin on each Par 3 hole, participate in a shootout for $100,000 for a Hole In One at the end of the day.  Also, 1 lucky golfer was selected to take a shot at a Hole In One for $1 million. Plans are currently underway for our 14th Annual Golf Outing to be held on June 15, 2026. Details will be available soon.

Saving Lives Foundation Updates
All funds generated through our activities are distributed back to patients and their families who are struggling from the financial burdens of cancer treatment. In 2016, the foundation launched the Joan Armstrong Memorial Scholarship at Hatboro-Horsham High School. Through this scholarship program, we award renewable 4 year $1,000/year scholarships to high school seniors whose immediate families have been personally impacted by the emotional and financial burdens of treatment for cancer. In 2025 we provided 2 scholarships ($1,000/year for 4 years) to seniors at Hatboro-Horsham High School whose immediate family has been impacted by cancer. Including this year’s awards, Saving Lives Foundation has committed $92,000 in scholarships to Hatboro Horsham High School students over the past 11 years.

In 2024 we provided assistance to patients referred from Abington Rosenfeld Cancer Center at Abington Hospital and Doylestown Hospital/Penn Radiation at Doylestown, Grand View Cancer Center, Holy Redeemer’s Redeemer Health in partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center @ Cooper, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, and Cancer Alliance. In 2024 we provided assistance to 50 patients that were in need of financial relief. We recently helped a family that was going to have their water turned off due to lack of payment; helped another family with rent payments; assisted another with critical house repairs. Our events such as our golf outing also help us raise the funds to continue our mission.

Saving Lives Foundation is recognized by the IRS as an organization exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3)of the Internal Revenue Code, and gifts and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
